We charge one flat plan fee. A few things sit outside our subscription because they're billed to you by the provider, not us. Here's the full picture.

↗ Paid directly to providers

  • WhatsApp conversation fees — Meta charges per 24-hour conversation window (marketing, utility, authentication or service). Billed by Meta on your WhatsApp Business account. See Meta's rate card →
  • AI text replies — you connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic or compatible API key. You pay the provider for tokens used by your AI agent.
  • AI voice notes (Scale plan) — transcription and text-to-speech run on your own provider key (e.g. OpenAI). You pay the provider per minute / per character.
  • Vector storage for the knowledge base — embeddings are generated with your AI key. We store them; you cover the embedding API calls.

Before you ask.

Are there hidden fees?

No. We charge two things: the monthly or yearly plan price, and a one-time $200 setup fee that covers WhatsApp Business API approval and onboarding. The only other costs are billed by your providers directly — never by us — and they're listed below.

What does WhatsApp itself charge me?

Meta bills your WhatsApp Business account per 24-hour conversation window. Rates depend on the conversation type (marketing, utility, authentication or service) and the recipient's country. We don't see, touch or mark up these fees. Meta's official rate card has the latest numbers.

Do AI replies cost extra?

The AI agent itself is included in every plan. The model behind it isn't — you connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic or compatible API key in settings, and you pay the provider for the tokens your agent uses. Most teams spend a few dollars to a few tens of dollars a month, depending on volume.

What about AI voice notes?

Available on the Scale plan. Voice-in (transcription) and voice-out (text-to-speech) use your own AI provider key, so you pay the provider per minute or per character generated. Same model: we don't mark anything up.

And vector storage / knowledge base?

Storage of your embeddings is included on Growth and Scale. Generating the embeddings uses your AI key — you pay the provider for those API calls when you upload or refresh documents.

Can WhatAReply just handle the AI billing for me?

Yes — we offer a managed AI add-on if you'd rather not manage provider keys. Email hello@whatareply.com and we'll send pricing.

Can I switch plans anytime?

Yes. Upgrade or downgrade in two clicks. We pro-rate to the day.

What happens if I exceed my limits?

We'll let you know when you hit 80% and 100% of your contact, seat, campaign or automation limits so nothing breaks unexpectedly. From there it's a one-click upgrade — no overage charges, no surprise bills.

Do you offer discounts for non-profits or education?

Yes — 30% off any plan. Email hello@whatareply.com with proof of registration.

How does the 14-day trial work?

Full access to a Trial plan with 500 contacts, 500 AI messages and the core feature set. No card required. No auto-charge at the end — we'll email you a few days before so you can pick a paid plan if you want to continue.

Can I get a custom plan?

Yes — for teams that need more than 50,000 contacts, custom roles, single sign-on or data residency, we'll put together a custom plan. Email hello@whatareply.com with your numbers.
